The Committee of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial tribunal appointed by Council and is independent and autonomous from City Administration. The Committee is authorized under the Planning Act to consider applications for:
- Minor variances from the provisions of the Zoning By-law
- Extensions, enlargements or variations of existing legal non-conforming uses under the Zoning By-law
- Land division to sever a new lot from an existing lot, adding land to an existing lot, easements, mortgages or leases in excess of 21 years
- Minor variances from the provisions of the Fence By-law

Board Information
Meetings are held every second Tuesday of each month (depending on the number of applications) at City Hall, 360 Pitt Street, Cornwall.
The Committee consists of three members appointed from the community. Members shall be appointed for a term of four years, and may be reappointed for additional terms.
