The Audit Committee's mandate is to provide an additional level of accountability to citizens on municipal financial reporting. The Committee also assists Council in the provision of effective municipal government by overseeing the administrative policies regarding accounting, reporting, internal controls, safeguarding of corporate assets, legal compliance, ethical and regulatory requirements. Board Information
Meetings are typically held at least twice a year, including an audit planning meeting with the external auditors prior to the annual audit commencing. Special meetings will be called as the need arises. Meetings are held in the Finance Boardroom, 100 Water Street East.
The Audit Committee consists of the Mayor and two Council representatives in addition to two lay members from the community. Members shall be appointed for a term of four years, and may be reappointed for two additional terms.
